The singing of Bada Khayal in Bhupali is reinforced with the Aalap within the Bandish in Vilambit Ektaal. The Trivat in Bhupali is sung with rhythmic improvisation concepts. Raga Bhimpalasi Chhota Khayal is revisited with extempore Aalap. Dhrupad composition in Sooltaal is also in Bhimpalsi, a Gambhir Raga. Raga Bageshri is introduced and a Chhota Khayal is learnt. Theory: A detailed learning of Raga characteristics Bhimpalasi. Raga knowledge as gleaned from three ancient texts from three different time periods in the history of Classical music, including an understanding of terms defining Raga Lakshanas- Graha, Amsha Nyas as applied to Gayaki.

Objectives

  • To reinforce the Bada Khayal in Vilmbit Ektaal with Aalap in Raga Bhupali
  • To review Trivat in Raga Bhupali and develop it within the Taal structure
  • To sing the Bhimpalasi Swar Maalika composed earlier and the Chhota Khayal
  • To learn a Dhrupad in Bhimpalasi in Taal Sooltaal
  • To learn Swar Vistar in Bhimpalasi and development within a Chhota Khayal
  • To compose the melody for a couplet about Bhimpalasi from a theoretical text
  • To learn a Chhota Khayal in Baageshri
  • To present a paper on ancient texts and Raga knowledge

 

 

The student should have completed HV203 at the academy OR The student should have about three years of learning experience, with an ability to sing a simple Swara Vistar,Chhota Khayal with self composed Aalap, Taan in at least ten Ragas. The student should be able to sing a Dhrupad composition with Dugun, Tarana with improvisation. The student should have the ability to compose a simple Sargam Geet in any of the Ragas learnt. The student should be able to sing Bada Khayal with basic Aalap in Yaman. Students who wish to join this level directly need to submit the prerequisite assessment assigned by the academy on enrolment
